Judge Hissong is a certified mediator and a graduate of the National Judicial College’s Legal Institute. Since 1976, public service has been her focus. Before taking the bench, she served in various volunteer capacities for the Glendale School District, the Douglas County Library System and the Douglas County Planning Department. She is involved in several community enrichment programs, serves as Board Secretary at Olivet Community Church and enjoys performing as a vocal soloist.

Judge Hissong, who is now retired, took the bench in 1987 for the Glendale District of Douglas County, Oregon. She had been the Judge of the Municipal Court for the city of Glendale, and also served as Judge pro tem for the other Justice Courts in Douglas County.
